The Just Breathe! Workshop exists to educate, encourage and inspire people to use the body's natural, stress-relieving abilities as a catalyst for transformation and healing.

Whether you are a busy teacher, medical professional, policeman or firefighter, executive, salesman or restaurant worker, chances are the stressful demands of the workplace have created a toxic environment brought on by the dizzying pace of business as usual. While decompression strategies such as happy hour, a mind-numbing evening of television, or a couple of sleeping tablets might help temporarily, on-the-job stress needs to be dealt with immediately and in the moment. Fortunately, the human body is designed to literally heal itself when functioning properly, and our most effective strategy for combating the symptoms of stress is as simple as this – Just Breathe!

Unfortunately, most of us don’t know how to breathe in a way that actually nourishes and heals at all levels – body, mind and spirit. Shallow breathing that only partially fills the lungs deprives capillaries that are waiting hungrily for oxygen to saturate the blood. As a result, oxygen-deprived blood is sent back out to the cells, causing cell after cell to die prematurely, wreaking havoc in the body. Breathing slowly and deeply can slow down or reverse this harmful process, creating a deep, satisfying sense of fulfillment as the body relaxes and lets go of its anxious, contracted state.

However, proper breathing requires time, attention and practice. During the Just Breathe! Workshop, participants will learn and practice techniques designed to quickly and effectively reduce stress in the midst of a hectic day. More than just a “feel-good” seminar, Elaine delves into the psychological and physiological effects of stress – then reveals the science behind the breath’s amazing ability to combat stress, increase the effectiveness of the immune system, increase energy, lower blood pressure and provide a host of other benefits.
